Mora of Sweden comes with the heritage of over 100 years of experience of knife making in close collaboration with the professional users. Let us explore the Filleting type namely the Mora Knife Fishing Comfort in detail.

Ergonomic design:

Having a filleting knife or two in your kitchen is always a great idea. Besides used for filleting fish, it can be utilized for several other applications as well. The Mora Fishing Comfort Filleting Knife is made of a blade stamped from cold-rolled stainless steel from Sandvik with hardness of 56 RC. Therefore, it is extremely tough and durable and not to mention the knife is very comfortable and handy. With an ergonomic design, the sharp knife has a patterned high-friction grip handle. The synthetic material makes a better choice over metal or wood as it can withstand extreme temperatures and offer better friction for grip.

Blade lengths:

The blade length of the Mora Fillet Knife is of short and long type. While the shorter form (code: 893) has a blade length of 103 mm, the longer type (code: 896) has a blade length of 155 mm. Both the long all-around knife of blade length (code: 856T) and short cleaning knife (898T) feature a serrated back for scaling. The length and flexibility of the fillet knife help you get excellent results.

Cutting:

The Mora filleting knife is thin, which means the knife can easily get into places that would be difficult for a regular kitchen knife. You can also easily move the knife through the flesh and separate it from the bone and the skin. It requires much less effort when cutting and the chances of getting some usable sections are also higher in the process. The much thinner and evenly sliced sections can be used for battering, grilling, baking or frying.

Plastic sheath:

The knife comes with a plastic sheath that protects you from the sharp blade and the knife stays snugly in place when you push it all the way in. The good thing is that you have to push the knife with your thumb so as to take it out of the sheath.

Other features:

The Mora Fishing Comfort knife should be used only if you are aged 18 and over. Washing with hot soapy water is what all you have to do to have the knife ready for use again and again. You can sharpen the fillet knife with most types of sharpening tools. So, the knife requires no extra care on your part to keep it in top working condition.

Summary:

We have used the knife for shaving away thin sections of roast beef for broiling, baking or pan frying and had no problems with it. As one user pointed out that it also does the job of cutting thin strips of steak and chicken for a variety of dishes to nicety. Finally, as we said it is perfect for what you require in cutting up bait and for this you cannot fault it.

Survival Knife:

Imagine you are lost in the wilderness with your Phone, sleeping bag, spare clothes, hiking boots, food, tent all gone and all you are left with is your survival gear, and be grateful to goodness for that. A Survival Knife can be the single most important tool in your survival kit during an emergency. You can do a lot to last in the wilderness with nothing but a survival knife.
Having spent quality time researching and reviewing some of the best available kitchen knives, we made up our mind to delve into knives designed for survival, rescue and utility purposes. Read on to know more about SL3 Fire Pocket Survival Knife developed by Tool Logic and find out how it can be an invaluable asset in a survival situation.

About Tool Logic:

Tool Logic, based at Washington in USA is a leading manufacturer and supplier of high quality, compact, multi-function tool kits, including survival knives with unusual and unique gifts for birthdays and men.

Design:

The Tool Logic SL3 Fire Steel Knife is a multi-function tool that is tough, light and versatile with a unique combination of useful accessories including a Fire Starter and a whistle. The addition of these features makes the SL3 a natural choice for hikers and car campers. The survival knife comes with an all-round utility shape for the 3″ razor sharp fixed blade with a full tang that has sufficient point to be actually useful, though softened with a steep drop profile at the tip. The blade has enough curve for carrying out most field chores.

Made of 420 J2 Stainless steel:

The blade of the knife is machined out of medium carbon420 J2 stainless steel (also known as Surgical Steel) with a hardness rating of RC50. A little bit of research will tell you that this type of steel has good corrosion resistance against blood, food acids, fresh water, steam, vinegar, ammonia, carbonic acid, detergent solutions, crude oil, petroleum products, etc. The manufacturer ascribes the use of 420 J2 over other steel types to its excellent strength, impact resistant qualities and easily machining properties.

Tough Zytel Body:

The knife body is made from durable Zytel overlay (by DuPont). We had no idea of it before, but came to know that Zytel is an extremely tough new generation polymer (nylon reinforced glass fibre material) that is unaffected by most solvents and even gasoline. Therefore, the knife body shows good mechanical strength and has excellent balance of toughness. The knife offers greater resistance to abrasion, corrosive chemicals and electrical shocks with the material having a high melting point.

50/50 Serrated Blade:

The SL3 Folding knife features a 50/50 serrated blade with a spear tip-point. The partially serrated blade can do extremely well at cutting clothing, synthetic materials and flesh. The serrated edges are also a good choice for self defence and paramedics. The knife seems to retain its edge well after 5 minutes of whittling. On the back of the knife is a saw you can use for sawing through metal or wood. But whether it is effective in doing the job as the regular saw blade remains a point of question. So, we advise you also carry a small saw in addition to the knife in your survival gear.
One-Hand Operation with Liner-type Lock:

We actually liked the nice, smooth, single handed opening movement of the knife. Thanks to the liner-type locking mechanism that allows you to open or close the knife with one hand. The mechanism though is not rocket science. There is a leaf spring-type liner within the groove of the handle that could snap into position under the blade when it is triggered. By pushing the linear to the side, the lock is released to allow the blade get back to its groove set into the handle. We felt that this feature will be more than handy during river trips. On rare occasions, the folding lock seems to jam a bit after hard use and thus requires a heavy thumb pressure to release. As a survival knife, it falls short a bit on this.

Lanyard Hole:

The blade has a lanyard hole at the handle end of the steel blade, as any good survival knife should have. This opening hole makes the blade more manageable and a little comfortable to hold and use. The Lanyard O-ring will also prevent you from dropping or loosing the tool.

Magnesium Alloy Firestarter:

Fire is the most important requirement in for survival. This survival knife is no ordinary knife as you can make fire anywhere without the help of matches or a lighter with the Premium Swedish Magnesium Alloy Firestarter which is good for several hundred strikes. Here is how it works: The blade of the SL3 is inserted with a wet/dry Magnesium Alloy Firestarter which is firmly held in the top of the handle and is a bit difficult to extract. This insert strikes a shower of extremely hot sparks at the first stroke of the blade (at over 2000 degree F) and even when tested in wet conditions.

Loud Signal Whistle:

An emergency signal whistle built into the back of the handle of the survival tool is piercingly loud even with a soft breath.

Blackened Stainless Belt Clip:

The carry system is very simplistic. The knife comes with a built-in clip made of blackened stainless steel on the rear of the handle for carrying on the belt. This accounts for better accessibility and ease of use. We really appreciate the integrated steel pocket clip as the knife is easy to carry in the pocket and releases only when you have to.

Watertight Cavity:

Another feature in the making of SL3 is the Watertight Cavity on the butt of the hilt that you can unscrew and inside one you can store fishing line, matches or all sorts of useful materials. You can even wrap up some cotton wool tinder around the steel within the Watertight Cavity.

Drawbacks:

We wish the blade was a straight edged blade instead of serrated as it is not easy to sharpen properly in a survival situation where maintaining a sharp edge during hard use is crucially important. Though the serrated blade generally requires a special sharpening device, it could be sharpened up with minimum effort. And also the very fact that the serrated edge is not too good a blade for carving and chopping definitely comes as a downside.

Use & Care:

Just a point of observation we think, needs to be made is that once the coating is scraped off the fire starter, it tends to corrode around salt water. This of course, can be prevented by re-coating it.

Warranty:

The manufacturer offers a 3-year limited warranty for the product against manufacturing defects.

Summary:

Weighing just 75 g (2.7 oz.), the SL3 is an excellent blade/firesteel combo, simply because the tool has the ability to achieve both – make fire as well as protect yourself from the elements. As a survival tool in your tank bag, glovebox or back pack, it may well turn out to be a lifesaver, which is what the knife is by purpose and design. If you are out for the day – fishing, hiking, riding or boating and find yourself off the trail and camp overnight, you will be extremely glad you had one on hand. As parting words, we should say that this pocket survival knife is not only well thought-out, but is really tough enough to live up to its principle: “Built for Life”.

Kitchen Devils’ collection of knives including a wide range of scalloped, serrated and hollow ground blades makes it perfect for every day use. The Kitchen Devils 602003 Lifestyle Vegetable Knife is exclusively designed for use with vegetables. The knife is quite handy for peeling and slicing fruits or vegetables. This knife also makes a good tool for jobs that need chopping, precision cutting and dicing.

Made of Stainless Steel Blade:

This vegetable knife is manufactured using stainless steel blade that gives you a long lasting edge. The knife blade has high carbon content which means that the thin sharp blade can let the knife slice nicely through vegetables, fruits and other foods. This helps retain the food flavour because it does not tend to react with acidic foods while preparation of food or cooking. Besides, this knife gives you one of the most hygienic cutting edges for the preparation of foods as they are moulded onto the blade and the food cannot get trapped. The knife also features a consistent matt finish, which is quite trendy.

Easy-grip textured handle:

The Kitchen Devils 602003 Kitchen knife is light and perfectly balanced equipped with an easy-grip textured handle that accounts for a comfortable and secure non-slip grip. Though it is robustly built, it is light enough for you to hold and control such that your hand does not get tired and suffer from fatigue.

Dishwasher safe:

With smooth contours, this knife is very easy to clean and requires minimal amount of care because it will not chip or easily rust and takes only little seasoning. This knife is dishwasher proof and can be easily washed in the dishwasher.

Manufacturer warranty:

The manufacturer offers a warranty period of 10 years for this vegetable knife and is suitable for use only if you are aged 18 and above.

Conclusion:

Weighing just 0.06kg, this ergonomically designed vegetable knife can easily turn out to be an important cutting tool in your kitchen.

Silverline has been a leading manufacturer and distributor of hand and power tools for over 30 years. A recognised and trusted brand throughout Europe and the UK, Silverline provides a comprehensive and meticulously selected range of latest DIY products using state-of-the-art technology. The Silverline Lawn Edging Knife is an innovative product used for edging along a driveway or terrace. This Lawn Edging knife can add a finishing touch to any lawn where it meets borders, patios and paths and cuts neatly leaving a perfect edge every time.

Epoxy coated hammered finish:

The lawn edger has a protective epoxy coated hammered finish that accounts for lasting durability and is weather proof. Besides, this material provides improved resistance to rust, humidity, scratches and alkalines in the soil and results in a smooth finish.

Tough tubular steel handle:

This 349762 Lawn edging knife has a strong tubular steel handle that provides you with a smooth, extra grip. The “T” shaped Edging knife will fit your hand quite perfectly and makes for a good shape. Use this edging knife to line it up near your marked line and then hold it vertically. Now, put your boot on the top of the blade, push it down and withdraw it vertically.

Half moon shaped blade:

The half moon shaped blade of the edging knife will influence a great sense of balance and comfort. The knife has a turn-over on the top straight edge to provide room for your boot resulting in an improved foot pressure. The overall length of this Lawn Edging Knife is 1000mm. The manufacturer offers a warranty of 1 year for this product.

Conclusion:

One of the downsides with this knife is perhaps the height which would be slightly high for the short gardener. Even the lushest lawn may look messy until you edge it and this knife will sure add a nice, clean and neat finishing edge to your lawn.

IRWIN Tools started way back in 1885, manufactures and supplies specialised grade hand tools and superior power tool accessories globally for trade professionals to increase their productivity on the job. Its brand portfolio comprises user-preferred category leaders include IRWIN, Marathon, Vise-Grip, Speedbor, Quick-Grip, Unibit, Strait-Line and Hanson.

Retractable Utility Knife:

The Irwin Pro-Touch Retractable Knife is a practical, durable utility knife that you can use for a wide range of applications. Having used Retractable Knife for the first time, we found that the knife is quite comfortable to hold and use confidently. This 10504236 Pro-Touch retractable blade knife helps you to quickly adjust the cutting depth of the blade and enables the blades to be retracted fully into the handle when the knife is not in use. This increases the safety level of the user. A magnet serves to hold the working blade in place.

Patented quick change blade design:

Blade changing can be a bit tricky, but not with this one as the patented quick change blade mechanism that this knife comes with helps you to quickly change the blade in just a few seconds with all the internal parts remaining captive. Besides, it also facilitates blade reversal. The result, it will save your time without your having to open the knife. After you change the blade easily, you can tighten the blade with one hand and open it even while climbing up a ladder. This construction also helps you control the stiffness of the slide. However, blade changing requires some practice before you get used to and is much quicker the fifth time than your first attempt.

Three-position slide:

The tool is light and sturdy as it has a solid Aluminium Body with a great feel. This construction also increases the durability of the knife. A smooth, three-position slide helps you to use various blade lengths and enhances the durability of the knife for frequent use. You can move the knob to make fine adjustments and hold on the slide design. Keep the knob as tight as possible, if you are putting a lot of force on something. If you have to take the knife in and out of your belt continuously, then try keeping it loose.

Easy tool-free entry push button:

This Irwin 10504236 Pro-Touch knife is quite light-weight and sturdy and has an easy tool-free entry push button that helps you open the knife and offers access to replacement blades. Most of us would like the blade come out easily, but there are some who like the blade to pop out with a bit of effort, so you can work either way with this knife. There is no need for you to open the Internal blade storage that can hold up to 5 spare blades and the blade is held safe from blunting by a handy clip. This blade storage feature also accounts for less refill time.

Soft-grip ergonomic handle:

Ergonomically, this Retractable Knife has a good feel and the soft-grip, ergonomic handle design of the knife closest to the blade makes for a comparatively tight grip. This part of the tool minimizes the chances of the blade slipping through your fingers, courtesy its non-slip surface provided for increased safety and comfort when in use. The knife handle is curved at an angle of 19 degree to increase cutting power while minimizing strain and hand fatigue at the same time.

6 Blue Bi-Metal Utility Blades:

This knife comes with 6 Blue Bi-Metal Utility Blades. These blades remain sharp three times longer than normal blades. The advantage of a Bi-metal utility blade is that the hardened edge of the blade remains sharp longer than a typical carbon blade and a spring steel body (body of the blade) enables the blade to flex without breaking which is quite common among carbon body blades. This knife has an authentic manufacturer logo engraved on the surface of the handle and the blades.

Warranty:

This Retractable Knife is guaranteed to be free from manufacturing and material defect for the life of the tool under regular wear and tear, except for the damage caused during mishandling or alteration.

Safety features:

Do not leave the Retractable knife unattended with the blade exposed. Make use of gloves because ‘safety is first’. Go for only good quality blades, and do not forget to retract the blade before you try to change it. Ensure the blades are seated properly in the knife so as to avoid slippage. Use safety glasses while using this knife, in case the blades snap off unexpectedly.
Make sure your body and clothing are not in line with the path of the box cutter with each cut. Sharp blades increases safety levels for dull blades require more effort to make cuts and may lead to slippage, though this knife features a soft, non-slip surface. Always pull the knife towards you when cutting and make several passes while cutting thicker objects.

Conclusion:

There are a number of users who appreciate the safety features of the blade including the safe and secure method of changing blades and the internal storage mechanism of this Retractable Knife, just because they do not like handling the blades manually. If you are really concerned about safety, then this knife is for you and will for sure find a place in your tool belt.

ROSLE, based in Marktoberdorf, Germany dates back to the year 1888 and ever since, their design and construction of kitchen and bar tools and equipments are characterized by high performance, reflecting not just aesthetic brilliance but also durability and competence. ROSLE’s growing range of knives and knife sets are carved for strenuous cutting and slicing including the Pineapple Cutter, Tomato Cutter, Tomato/Mozzarella Slicer, etc.

Sharp scalloped blade:

The ROSLE Serving Knife has never failed to impress professional cooks and chefs globally. This serving knife has a long sharp carving so that you can carve food items like salami or crispy turkey roasts in the form of clean slices without shredding. You can also use this knife for carving chicken, roast, leg of lamb, duck, and brisket as the super-sharp blade with waves along the edge, generally known as ‘scalloped edge’ helps you slice thickly or thinly and quite smoothly when you are cutting cooked meals.

Long stainless steel blade:

It is recommended that any knife that is meant for carving roast should have a blade length more than 8 in or 10 inch. Therefore, this knife can prove pretty useful for carving roast and slicing larger pieces as the overall length of the stainless steel blade is 11.8 in or 30 cm. This knife made of 18/10 stainless steel does not react with acidic foods protecting against corrosion and accounts for a durable finish and permanent shine. Besides, it is hygienic, neutral to taste, easy to clean and maintain, environment friendly and visually attractive. The long stainless steel blade helps you effortlessly slice through large joints of meat.

Knife Handle:

The handle looks pretty plain and sleek with a fairly simple design and is 10cm or 3.9 in long with a classic ROSLE logo embellished on the handle. There is a small hanging ring which you might need as this 11.8 steel blade would stick out of most knife blocks.

Warranty:

The manufacturer guarantees a warranty of 5 years from the date of purchase.

Use & Care:

Allow the roast to stand for about 15 to 20 minutes prior to carving with this knife, for the roast would turn firmer and you will feel a lot more easier to carve. To achieve uniform slices, try holding the knife at the same angle for each cut. The more tender the roast, the thicker the slices will be when you carve them.

Conclusion:

This serving knife from an award wining brand makes it easy to slice through meat and serve whole pieces. Not to mention that they are also safe for everyday cleaning in your dishwasher.

Mora of Sweden with 100 over years of manufacturing experience entered the market in 2005. Knives manufactured by Mora of Sweden have found a place in a wide range of applications, be it manufacturing industry, construction site, slaughterhouses or just when you relax by fishing, hunting or enjoying the outdoors.

Thin tapered blade:

Woodcarving can be as simple as anything with the Mora Erik Frost 120 Wood Carving Knife as it allows you to do an incredible amount of work on many varieties of woods be it Basswood, Tupelo, Mahogany, Walnut or Chestnut. This knife also popularly known as The Mora Woodcarving Knife 120 and features a thin, tapered blade and has a pointed tip that is made out of laminated steel. This carving knife has the flat Scandinavian grind that goes neatly to the edge and remember that it is quite sharp when they come from the factory. You will also find that this style of grind is pretty simple to sharpen without any jigs or gadgets.

Large Oiled birch wood handle:

This Erik Frost 120 wood carving knife comes with a larger oiled birch wood handle that offers exceptional control and grip while carving particularly if you have sweaty hands. It has a relatively smaller blade than an ordinary pocket knife. The larger handle helps you to have a firmer grip and shorter blade helps to enhance the power or force, the hand can provide to the wood as carving generally is taking off small quantity of detailed wood rather than minimizing the size of the wood in by larger pieces. The length of the blade is ideal for controlled carving. We found the design of the handle makes it easy to carve kuksa cups and spoons besides the Mora 164 crook knife. The thickness of the handle ensures that you are quite comfortable to work with for longer periods without causing cramps in your hands.

Core of blade made of high carbon steel:

With an ergonomic design, the core of the blade is made of high carbon steel surrounded by a layer of softer alloyed steel. Excellent hardness is achieved through the hardening process. The result is that you get a knife blade that provides greater toughness, higher cutting edge retention for maximum sharpness and extended life. The overall length of the knife is 168mm and the length of the blade is 58mm.

Laminated blades:

The edges have held quite well. The laminated blades are more tolerant of flexing at the cost of having a solid enough back to strike flint. We tried the laminated blades of this carving knife with a baton on a dry wood and the result – there was no chipping of the edge yet. The construction offers resistance to rust while maintaining sharpness.

Thermoplastic sheath:

This knife comes along with a thermoplastic sheath having a belt loop slot that is intended for very thin belts. Now, this is quite traditional in Scandinavia. It is also quite easy for you to open up the belt loop. Thermoplastic sheath suggests that it could get soft when warmed. Try warming the belt hanger by inserting a piece of wood or a ruler; it will keep the new shape after it cools down.

Drawback:

The knife tends to come out of the sheath if you do not sufficiently push it well down into the sheath.

Use & Care:

This carving knife does not come with a guard like most kitchen knives. This helps you to produce cuts you cannot do otherwise. Get used to it and this may not seem to be a problem at all. There are customers who have been using the knife for about 5 decades without any problems of cutting themselves because it does not have a guard. But be careful though as the blades are really sharp. While you are carving your own kuksa cups, ensure you do not poke the point of the blade by accident through the bottom of the cup and damage it.

Sharpening of the blade edges is certainly not a big deal as you can quickly work on the edges of the knife using any diamond, ceramic sharpener or carbide. At the same time you can also make use of a natural stone to sharpen the knife or just go for a suitable knife sharpener.

Conclusion:

The short and highly sharp blade makes the knife perfect for its intended use of wood carving. While the comfortable birch handle is simple enough to use, plastic sheath having the belt loop eases carving thereby making it suitable for shop use or as an ideal belt knife.

Dexam has been bringing you quality, innovative cookware and kitchenware for the past 5 decades. From simple, day-to-day tools and gadgets including wooden spoons, potato peelers to hi-tech kitchen knives and latest cookware concepts, you can find the right mix of price and quality in all its products. One of its innovative kitchen knives has been the Faringdon Wood Handle Palette Knife. We all know that a palette knife is primarily a blunt tool used for applying or mixing paint, but this one is meant for your kitchen and is sure to enliven the kitchen ambience.

Flexible steel blade:

The Dexam Faringdon Palette Knife comes with an extra long knife having quite a flexible steel blade. Generally, you can use this palette knife to simply turn over drop scones or food being cooked in a pan, spread cream, biscuits, icing and cake filings to smooth toppings for baked dishes like mashed potato and polenta. Besides, you can make use of this knife from removing pieces of food from baking trays and serves a real life saver in your kitchen!

Longer Wooden Handle:

This Palette Knife made of stainless steel and has a wooden handle. The wooden handle is a bit long that makes it ideal for skimming the top of a desert to make it level and smooth. You can also use it for dishing up smaller food stuffs like little pieces of fish. It rigid structure is quite ideal for someone who does a lot of work on smaller things. This smaller version of this knife will not be ideal for skimming the top of big deserts, but the bigger models could help you to achieve it quite easily. This wide knife comes with a rounded blade having blunt sides. The knife can also be used for skimming around the inner edges of the cake tin if you happen to loosen the cake before lifting it out. It is also quite handy for lifting items too.

Other features:

This knife is available in a wide range of sizes including 10cm, 15cm and 20cm and a single piece would weigh around 0.044kg, 0.055kg and 0.062kg respectively. This knife is relatively light-weight and it its simplicity of design is well complemented by the excellent balance that it offers while using it.

Use & Care:

As this knife comes with a wooden handle, it is recommend that you wash this product by hand and is not dishwasher safe.

Conclusion:

With nice flexible blades compared to other palette knives, this one would just do what you would otherwise expect from a palette knife. Known for its excellent flexibility, its simple and ergonomic design makes it more than a handy knife for spreading icing, cake mixture, and fillings for all those special occasions in your life!

First designed in 1985 by Komin Yamada, Global’s series of kitchen knives were developed making use of the best materials on hand and the latest manufacturing techniques. Over the years, Global’s wide range of kitchen knives including its popular Global G Series G-2 20cm Cooks Knife have enticed both professional and amateur chefs globally.

Design:

The Global G-2 20cm Cooks Knife is long bladed and features a deep tapered blade so that the edge remains sharper and longer. It is suitable for chopping and slicing all types of herbs and vegetables. The length of the blade is 20cm or 8 inches. This all-purpose Chef’s knife is similar to a ‘Samurai sword blade’ and has an extra sharp knife blade that is made from its own proprietary high-tech Cromova 18 stainless steel, ice tempered and hardened to Rockwell rating of 56-58. Cromova 18 stainless steel is a composition of 18 percent chromium that offers excellent stain resistance plus Molybdenum (MO) and Vanadium (VA) elements for good edge retention. Therefore, the knife blades are free of stains, corrosion or rust formation.

The G-2 knife blade is really hard that it could hold its sharp cutting edge longer but at the same time, you can sharpen the blade quite easily. This knife blade allows the Cook to slice through foods without any effort, preserving the consistency and quality of the ingredient, thereby enhancing its flavour. You could also find that this knife is ground to a straight point as opposed to the western style of bevelling the knife’s edge. Although it is one piece, there is no risk of your hand slipping forward onto the cutting edge as the knife blade can curl back towards the handle.

Superior grip:

The hollow handle in this knife is meticulously weighted so that you could hold the knife with perfect balance. The hollow handle is filled with just the right amount of sand for a firm grip even when it is wet. The stainless steel handle on this knife has been duly shaped for your comfort and comes with its own distinct darkened dimples for an extra, non-slip, safe grip. You will not feel fatigued while slicing large quantities of fruit, vegetables and meat as the knife is light-weight with a superior handle grip. The handle is cold to the touch but quickly warms up making it comfortable to use. It also is slightly slimmer than the Sabatiers; so it may well suit smaller hands. As the blade is forged from single pieces of high-tech molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel, there is no undue risk of the handle coming loose, or chances of dirt building up in the joints.

Use & Care:

Make sure that the knife is sharpened every time you use it for optimum performance and extended use. It is recommended by Global that you should use a ceramic whetstone or water stone for occasional re-sharpening. This would improve the sharpness of the edge. You can also make use of traditional steel for sharpening, but this may bruise the metal and in fact make the edge more fragile. Use a stone that could polish the edge down to an even and smooth sharpness.

The deep tapered blade of this G-2 20cm Chef’s knife is ideal for slicing or chopping. However, they are not suitable for carving and thus necessitate the use of a shallower blade. Make use of a magnetic strip to hang up this knife and make sure you do not chuck it in the kitchen drawer for its edge can get easily damaged. Make sure this knife is safely locked away and inaccessible to the hands of children in the house as the blade is really sharp and could prove fatal when handled by kids.

It is easy to clean the knife but avoid washing in dishwasher as they may destroy the knife edge. The knife may get bashed about and moreover dishwasher salts, etc could be rather harsh on it. It is also recommended by the manufacturer to use a mild detergent or give it a regular wash using liquid in warm water immediately after use and before any foodstuffs have dried on and stuck to the blade. Make sure you dry immediately after wash. Do not chop on to meat bones or frozen foods with this knife. Also, do not attempt to open tins with this knife. Finally, ensure you use a soft plastic chopping board and not glass or metal one.

Lifetime Warranty:

Global Knives offers lifetime warranty against breakage and defects.

Conclusion:

There are quite a number of knives available in the market that may tend to lose their edge quickly and others fall apart in the dishwasher. But this award-winning Chief’s knife with an ergonomic design, razor sharp edge and comfortable handle promises great utility. Finally, if you are used to slicing or chopping foods with a Sabatier or a heavier knife, then getting accustomed to the weight of this knife with a rocking motion would be slightly testing at first, but with a bit of perseverance, you will find the cutting more delicate with this knife.
